The UltraMedia Team
Experienced Audio / Video Staff
We are Dallas, Texas proud! See our Community page.
We've been around the block. As of 2016, we tally 140 years of combined experience in the residential audio/video and home theater business. We'll do the math—that's 23 years of audio/video experience per employee! Our experienced team will be thrilled to design and install a technology system for your home or business. You'll have some of the best talent in the industry working on your project. The team is well educated and trained in all areas of home and light commercial entertainment and network technologies.
Pat Johnson, President, began his career in home audio/video in 1992 while flying for American Eagle. Designing state-of-the-art home technology and entertainment systems is his passion. Pat is trained in numerous technologies, and has a talent for overcoming compatibility issues that custom installers face. "It doesn't matter to me how much my clients spend. My clients know I work to design the best system I can, staying within the budget they set." In his off hours, Pat is an outdoorsman—he served as President for Dallas Woods and Waters, and now focuses on their Youth and Family Activities outreach. Pat is also a life member of the Dallas Safari Club. Pat received his bachelors of science in technology from Southwest Texas State University, is a CEDIA-Certified Professional Designer.
Pat Murray, Technician and Programmer, is a CEDIA Level II Certified Professional Installer, and has been in the industry since 1990. He is our lead programmer, and has attended the prestigious Sumiko Masters Training in Berkeley, CA. This letter says it all: “We wanted to thank you for the incredible service we received from Pat Murray on our newly renovated home. Pat is truly an asset to your company, a “one-of-a-kind,” extremely hard working, diligent man! He knows his stuff! What makes Pat so very special is his caring and warm personality. Our family always looked forward to Pat coming to our home, and were very sad when the project was finished. Pat should be commended for his loyalty to his company and his clients. Pat would phone from home to check on our system, and worked on many of his days off. Not only was Pat a great technician, he was a trustworthy person that I would open my home to any time. Pat takes pride in his work, and I would highly recommend him to any of my friends. Thank you very much!” In his free time, Pat and his wife enjoy his Harley.
Brent Thomas, Technician, received his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University in business, and has been in the home audio/video industry since 1996. Brent is a CEDIA Level I Certified Professional Installer, and a Registered Outreach Instructor. He loves the “cool sights and sounds of the audio video world,” and gets a lot of satisfaction at the completion of each high-end home theater installation. Referring to our great clients and the strong team at UltraMedia, Brent says that he works with friends all day. Brent is also a world-traveled (semi-retired) stand-up comic, and enjoys mountain biking.
Matt Wassmer, Technician and Programmer, began his audio/video career in 1999, after serving our country in the U.S. Army. His military experience laid a foundation for his transition to residential and commercial technology design and installation. Having owned an A/V company, Matt's familiar with all aspects of running a custom installation business. Most challenging? Keeping up with the daily changes in technology. Away from the office, Matt continues to serve his community. In October 2015, Matt was sworn in as a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Lavon Police Department, where he's sworn “to serve and protect with honor and integrity.” We're so proud of him and his accomplishments. Now, when Matt works in your home or business you can rest easy, knowing you have an off-duty police officer protecting the premises! “I believe in doing the hard right, instead of the easy wrong.” Indeed, he belongs on our team. When not working or volunteering, Matt enjoys playing soccer.
Mike Brock, Designer, has been an “AV guy” since 1982. He earned his bachelor of arts in business administration, and immediately began working in the two-channel world. Nothing pleases him more than a properly designed and calibrated theater system. Like so many others in the field, keeping up with ever-changing home entertainment technology and compatibilities are his greatest challenges—but challenges he revels in. His favorite publications are CE Pro, Stereophile, and Residential Systems. “This business has allowed me to travel (Chicago, New York, Denver) and meet some very interesting and talented people.” He appreciates the great attitudes of the people he works with at UltraMedia. When he’s not working, he enjoys golf, water sports, and time spent with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law.
Chris Jones, Systems Designer, has been in the audio/video industry since 1992. (How are we so lucky to end up with all these seasoned vets?) For a very long time, Chris worked in “distribution,” selling lots of different audio-video products to lots of different audio-video companies. In 2017, we lured him over to the custom installation side. He’s a perfect fit for UltraMedia, with his extensive knowledge of audio-video gear, and outgoing and friendly demeanor that clients love. Like all of us, he finds the ever-changing nature of technology a challenge, and has way too much “special training” to list, having been in the industry for so long. He loves it all—his biggest thrill matching the right technology to his clients’ needs. His two favorite industry mags are CE Pro, and Residential Systems. In his time off, family and fishing come first.
Michael Allen, Technician, interned with UltraMedia in 2015. After graduating from high school, he earned his commercial diving/underwater welding certification. Of a class of 24, only 8 made it—and Mike was one of them. We know he’s got grit. And, he’s also got a passion for computers and technology that won over, to our benefit. He joined us full time in 2017, and we’ll look to him to blaze new trails for us when it comes to programming and networks.
Valerie Johnson received her bachelor of science in interior design from East Texas State University (Texas A&M, Commerce). She spent ten years in corporate communications with Electronic Data Systems, and later joined Pat at UltraMedia. She provides part-time clerical support for UltraMedia, and is an armchair advocate for the Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / CFS Association of America.
