Acoustical Treatments, Step-Lights and Windows: After and Before
Our clients’ new home came with the basic bones of a cinema room. It had seating, projector, screen, and 5.1 surround (center channel and 4 in-ceiling speakers). Our clients’ passion for modern art and high design prompted them to call us to take their theater to the next level. Pat (UltraMedia) and our client collaborated on the design decisions, and mixed acoustical panels by Kinetics Noise Control and ModularArts. We increased the sound quality to 7.2 surround with the addition of some small-but-mighty Totem speakers. We added step lights for safety and convenience, and Lutron RadioRA 2 lighting control to manage their seven lighting circuits, and provide lighting scenes with the push of a single button. And, there were those elephant(s) in the room (seen in “before” below): windows. We covered them so carefully that from the street, the change is undetectable.
