Our Team

Pat (president) has been in the A/V industry since 1992 and is a CEDIA-Certified Professional Designer. After realizing his dream of flying for American, it was time to put down some roots and pursue another passion: superb audio/video. After founding and selling two A/V companies to partners, Pat has opened his third and last: UltraMedia, with his wife, Valerie. Working with clients to create wonderful home entertainment systems is his passion. (In addition to being an absolute technology geek--you’ll find AV magazines all over his house, and his phone never stops ringing.) When he does break away from “work,” he enjoys hunting, boating, and working with his two rescue dogs. Pat received his bachelors of science in technology from Southwest Texas State University.

Valerie (secretary/treasurer) has been assisting Pat in the A/V industry since 1998. Her responsibilities include everything from Accounting to striving for Zero-defects, company wide. Valerie loves the ongoing challenge of setting up and running a small business. “The people here are the best. It’s my home away from home, and each team member feels like family.” Valerie received her bachelor of science from Texas A&M Commerce in interior design.

Scott (designer) is a CEDIA-Certified Professional Designer, and has been in the home audio/video industry since 1988. (After receiving his bachelor of science in radio/television production.) He loves the challenge of making various systems work together cohesively. “The average client doesn’t understand how difficult and complicated system integration can be.” What does he like best about UltraMedia? “Sometimes I can bring my dog to work! Seriously, the people: my coworkers, our clients.” What special insight does he have to offer regarding the home entertainment business? “ ‘Simple and easy to use’ is a lot of work. ‘Complicated and frustrating’ is easy, and we won’t do it.” In his free time, Scott enjoys coaching a master’s swimming class, and taking Nitro to the dog park.

Mike (designer) has been an “AV guy” since 1982. He earned his bachelor of arts in business administration, and immediately began working in the two-channel world. Nothing pleases him more than a properly designed and calibrated theater system. Like so many others in the field, keeping up with ever-changing home entertainment technology and compatibilities are his greatest challenges--but challenges he revels in. His favorite publications are CE Pro, Stereophile, and Residential Systems. “This business has allowed me to travel (Chicago, New York, Denver) and meet some very interesting and talented people.” He appreciates the great attitudes of the people he works with at UltraMedia. When he’s not working, he enjoys golf, water sports and camping with his wife son, and new daughter-in-law.

Chris (operations manager) began installing home theaters in 1999. His career in the home entertainment industry took him into system design, and now management, where he leads our team of UltraMedia, Inc. technicians and manages the warehouse (among many other things). What does he love about the home theater business? “How life-like a properly calibrated system can sound. The best: our clients’ expressions when they first experience the system we installed for them.” Chris cites ever-evolving technology as the biggest challenge he faces. His go-to magazine? “Widescreen Review.” Chris attended the University of Texas at Arlington and Texas A&M Commerce, where he studied radio and television production. In his free time, Chris enjoys Texas Hold ’Em, golf, and the occasional mountain bike ride.

Pat Murray (technician) is a CEDIA Level II Certified Professional Installer. The following letter from one of our clients says everything about Pat: “We wanted to thank you for the incredible service we received from Pat Murray on our newly renovated home. Pat is truly an asset to your company, a “one of a kind,” extremely hard working, diligent man! He knows his stuff! What makes Pat so very special is his caring and warm personality. Our family always looked forward to Pat coming to our home, and were very sad when the project was finished. Pat should be commended for his loyalty to his company and his clients. Pat would phone from home to check on our system, and worked on many of his days off. Not only was Pat a great technician, he was a trustworthy person that I would open my home to any time. Pat takes pride in his work, and I would highly recommend him to any of my friends. Thank you very much!” C.S., Dallas

Brent (technician) has been working in the home audio/video industry since 1996, and is a CEDIA Level I Certified Professional Installer. He loves the “cool sights and sounds of the audio video world,” along with the challenge of keeping up with the ever-changing technology of the home entertainment industry. Between our great clients, and the strong team at UltraMedia, Brent says it’s like working with friends each day. Before becoming the world-traveled (semi-retired) stand-up comic that he is, he received his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State in business. Brent enjoys restoring old cars and mountain biking.

Todd (technician) is a CEDIA Level I Certified Professional Installer and is still scripting the details of his life story.

Ryan (technician) is a CEDIA Level 1 Certified Professional Installer. He’s our newest team member and brings a new energy and enthusiasm to our team. What he loves about A/V? “The wow-factor--I love to see and hear media the way it is meant to be: perfect!” He enjoys “the quality of the UltraMedia, Inc. team,” which, he identified during his first interview, as “a team of winners.” Ryan recently graduated from West Texas A&M with a bachelor’s in business administration. Ryan brings many skills relative to the work we do: extensive gaming networking, and leadership in community service such as Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club, and 4-H. (We know a winner when we see one!) When he’s not reading Sound and Vision magazine, Ryan enjoys mountain biking, and hunting, to name a few. He is engaged to be married this year!
