UltraMedia,
Inc. Staff Favorites - Movies and music to showcase your system.
Designer and Operations Manager Chris Raso likes these DVDs for drawing out the best qualities of a sound and video system:
- Saving Private Ryan
- Master and Commander
- Diana Krall LIVE in Paris
- Open Range (great audio in the shoot-out scene)
Chris uses these CDs to demonstrate the best of what an UltraMedia, Inc. sound system can do:
- “Live in Paris” by Diana Krall (great live recording)
- “The Gates of Instanbul” off Loreena McKennitt's An Ancient Muse (Bonus Track Version) This is a great song for testing your sub-bass system.
- “Stranger Things” by Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians. (I've never been much of a fan, but this CD has some really nice-sounding songs.)
Designer and Project Manager Mike Brock enjoys using these movies for audio/video demos, saying they do a great job of utilizing all the aspects of a great theater:
- The Fifth Element -“Regeneration” scene
- Finding Nemo
- The Incredibles Star Wars - The Pod Race
- Open Range - opening rain scene, and the gunfight
President Pat Johnson’s favorite demo DVDs are:
- Open Range
- Flags of our Fathers
- Saving Private Ryan (perhaps better enjoyed by male viewers)
- any Pixar animated movies – great for families
Pat enjoys using concert videos to demonstrate a great system’s audio and video combined:
- Santana’s Supernatural
- HDNet’s Friday Night Concerts
- Eagles’ Hell Freezes Over
One of the things Valerie Johnson enjoys about flat-screens is their dual function as art displays. The TV is no black hole when Pat and Val entertain. For years they have displayed interesting photos during a party. Now, there are high-definition DVDs offering everything from magnificent pictures of space to reproductions of the Masters. Check these out for some crystal-clear, dynamic ways to enjoy your special interests, or show off your good taste!
- Space Spectacular – 60 eye-popping photos from the NASA archives
